O Grupo de investigação em Física do Estado Sólido se dedica a investigação de propriedades físicas de materiais semicondutores, metálicos e isolantes utilizando medições de transporte elétrico e fotocondução. Recentemente, o grupo se dedica a investigação de isolantes topológicos para aplicação em spintrônica, envolvendo principalmente materiais do tipo IV-VI, SnTe, Bi2Te3 e heteroestruturas baseadas nestes compostos binários, como poços quânticos, super-redes e heteroestruturas. O grupo também investiga óxidos semicondutores do tipo ZnO e CdO, para desenvolvimento de sensores de temperatura e radiação.

The Solid State Physics Research Group is dedicated to the investigation of physical properties of semiconductor, metallic and insulating materials using measurements of electrical transport and photoconduction. Recently, the group is dedicated to the investigation of topological insulators for application in spintronics, mainly involving materials of type IV-VI, SnTe, Bi2Te3 and heterostructures based on these binary compounds, such as quantum wells, superlattices and heterostructures. The group also investigates semiconductor oxides of the ZnO and CdO type, for the development of temperature and radiation sensors.
